2026 Homebuyer Grants

At NebraskaLand Bank, we’ve teamed up with The Federal Home Loan Bank to offer two amazing programs: HSP and HOPE. These programs are designed to help make buying a home easier and more affordable. 

What is HSP? 

The Homeownership Set-aside Program (HSP) is specifically designed to support first-time homebuyers. To qualify for this program, applicants must have a household income that does not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). This program provides subsidies for down payment and/or closing cost assistance for eligible first-time homebuyers 

Key Details: 

• Opens: March 2, 2026 

• Assistance amount: $2,500–$15,000 

• Requirements: Homebuyer education is required as part of this program.  

Once the funds are available, reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to qualification. 

What is HOPE? 

The Homeownership Possibilities Expanded (HOPE) program is for moderate-income buyers earning up to 115% of the AMI. Unlike many programs, HOPE isn’t just for first-time buyers. It’s great for families who don’t qualify for traditional grants but still need help with down payments or closing costs. 

Key Details: 

• Opens: March 16, 2026 

• Assistance amount: Starts at $2,500 

• Requirements: Current homeowners must sell their home (no rentals allowed) 

Like the HSP program, reservations for the HOPE program will also be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, subject to qualification.
