Meet the Rodeo Queens

All Male Cake Bake

They demonstrated their culinary abilities to design a Roulette Wheel with the ball landing on number "40" to illustrate the theme "40 Years of Riding with the Wild Bunch". The cards spell out "Let It Ride".

Veteran's Honor Flight

NebraskaLand National Bank was a sponsor of the first Veteran's Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C.. Members of the honor flight were recognized by local community members as they boarded the bus. The bus made stops in several communities along
interstate 80 to pick up Veterans and transport them to Omaha for their flight to Washington D.C. The trip allowed 102 World War II Veterans to view their Memorial on the Washington Mall.

 NebraskaLand National Bank Celebrates Ten Years of Community Service..."A Decade of Difference". The official Ten Year Anniversary of the bank was May 14th, 2008. As a part of the big Anniversary Week, Community Appreciation Grill Events were held at all four of the North Platte bank locations.
Salvation Army representatives partnered with NebraskaLand National Bank at the Wal-Mart location, inviting Wal-Mart shoppers to enjoy a
hotdog, chips and pop.
 Through donations, $468.00 was raised for the Salvation Army!
Original Town Association and Rail Fest committee members were present at the North Branch of NebraskaLand National Bank. Not only did they help with the customer appreciation event, receiving
$387.00 in donations for the Original Town Association, but they also accepted a $10,000.00 donation from NebraskaLand National Bank to go toward the Rail Fest 2008 Sponsorship!
North Platte High School Booster Club members helped serve hot dogs at the drive through of the South Branch of NebraskaLand National Bank. They received $339.00 in donations through the anniversary customer
 appreciation event!
St. Patrick's High School Student Council and National Honor Society washed
windshields and served lunch at the bank's Main Branch downtown. The students had a great time, and received $668.00 in donations for up-coming
projects!

Community Minded Award

 On Monday, May 12th, Mike Jacobson, President and CEO, presented the NebraskaLand National Bank Community Minded Award to the VFW Post 1504 and Ladies Auxiliary. The event was the kickoff for the Bank’s celebration of “A Decade of Difference” Ten Year Anniversary. The VFW Post 1504 and Ladies
Auxiliary have not only provided service to our country, but they have provided dedication and service to our community as well. The Community Minded Award originated in 2004 as an effort to recognize the efforts of those in our area who demonstrate through their actions that they are devoted to making a difference in the community in which we live.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

 NebraskaLand National Bank, North Platte Volunteer Fire Department and KX104 hosted the 3rd Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event to benefit the Rape/Domestic Abuse Program. Thirty men from North Platte and the area dressed in women's shoes to walk a mile through the downtown area. This year's event awarded prizes in the areas of: Trendiest Outfit, Best Dressed, Cutest Shoes, Highest Heels, Most Adorable Purse, Best Hair, Best hat and Best legs. Over $5,000 was raised through the event to benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

 Employees of NebraskaLand National Bank taught students at North Platte Community College and North Platte High School on the do’s and don’ts of credit to mark National Get Smart About Credit Day, a financial literacy program sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation. National Get Smart About Credit Day, October 18th! The presentation is one of many made by bankers across the country as part of a nationwide effort to help young people take charge of their finances. “ The choices young adults make with their first credit card will impact their lives years later when they apply for a car loan of even a mortgage,” said Dana Hurst, Vice President of Marketing. Assistant Vice President, Teller & Cash Management Manager Sandy Ross, spoke at North Platte High School on October 18th. She discussed how to choose a credit card that fits your needs. Other topics include, don’t spend more than you can afford.

 This years event was bigger then ever. Lots of fun activities were set up in the NebraskaLand National Bank main parking lot on Thursday, August 16th from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Kids could enjoy jumping booths, airbrush tattoos, cotton candy, fishing games and bean bag toss. Tickets sold four for $1 and all monies raised went to the American Cancer Society. The event brought in $1500 making NebraskaLand National Banks relay for life team the top team with a total of $6,000 raised.

NebraskaLand National Sponsors 2nd Annual Walk A Mile In
Her Shoes

NebraskaLand National Bank, KX104 and the NP Volunteer Fire Department teamed up for their second annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. This event was on Friday, April 13th at 11:30 a.m. at NebraskaLand National Bank Downtown. This is a Men’s March to
 Stop Sexual Assault. Men walk a mile downtown in Women's Footwear! They can form a team of
friends or co-workers, challenge another organization to form a team, or nominate a guy. The catch. If they signed themselves up they pick their choice of Women’s footwear to walk in. If someone else nominated them, that person picks their footwear. One in three women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Having the men walk represents many women who have escaped an abusive situation with nothing but their clothes on their back. Many of the women have families to take care of as well as
 themselves in an abusive situation. Around $12,000 was raised at this years event. There was close to 60 walkers. This doubled from last year. The money raised will go to help pay off the Rape and Domestic Abuse Shelter.
• 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually
abused before they are 18 years old.
•1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will be victims of an
attempted or completed rape.
• Sexual Assault is the most rapidly growing violent
crime and is the least reported crime.
Only 16% of sexual assaults are reported.
• 1.3 women are forcible raped each minute. That calculates
to 78 every hour and 1,872 every day.
Out of the 650,000 adult women in the state of Nebraska, 84,000 have been raped at least once in their lifetime.

 On Thursday, March 15th NebraskaLand National Bank hosted its 5th Annual Women’s Business
forum at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express. It was an evening of laughter and entertainment with fellow businesswomen. Our keynote speaker was Sandy Queen and enlightened the audience! Her famous program, “ Lighten Up! This is the only life you have” helped take a look at your life, attitude and feelings and apply real humor skills to real life. NebraskaLand National Bank started this event five year ago. Each year around 200 women attend. There are many women in our community who are leaders and work hard to balance life, work, health and family. This is an evening for them to sit back and relax and leave enlightened.

NebraskaLand National Bank and Bob Spady Motors Team Up for 2nd Annual Carnival for Cancer!

 NebraskaLand National Bank and Bob Spady Motors teamed up to support the American Cancer Society. A Carnival for Cancer was held, giving families an opportunity to enjoy an affordable and safe evening out. Such attractions were a jumping booth, blown up maze and a water shower. The water shower was perfect for the hot 90 degree weather day. Families could also come and enjoy a cooked meal by NebraskaLand National Bank for only a few dollars.
Tickets were sold four for $1. This gave children the opportunity to have their face painted, participate in a snack walk and fish for prizes. The total amount raised was $2300.00. This money was sent to the American Cancer Society to help them in their fundraising efforts for Relay for Life.

1st Annual SHRED DAY
Friday, May 19th
On May 19th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m .NebraskaLand National Bank and Dynamite Destruction held the first annual Shred Day. Members of the community were encouraged to bring at most one trash bag full of items to shred. The items could include bank statements, scam mailings or anything with personal information. If you brought items to shred you received lunch on NebraskaLand National Bank. Over 4400 pounds of paper were shredded in two hours. Shred Day was an example of the community working together to stop identity theft.
NebraskaLand National Bank takes Identity Theft seriously. Which is why, they have implemented the Identity Theft 911 program for their customers. NEBRASKALAND NATIONAL BANK RAISES MONEY FOR BANK

NebraskaLand National Bank and KELN raised money for Mindy Nichols. Mindy and her family are customers of NebraskaLand National Bank. Mindy has been fighting an aggressive type of cancer for the past two years. With medical bills and the day to day bills money has run low for the family. Steen, Mindys husband has had to cut down on work in order to take care of Mindy.
NebraskaLand National Bank is a community minded bank. This was a situation that we needed and wanted to help out with in any way we could.
NebraskaLand National Bank and KELN held a free- will donation lunch at the main bank downtown. NebraskaLand National Bank donated all of the lunch and KELN donated the live remote. Over $2000 was raised from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in free-will donations. Another $1000 was donated from NebraskaLand National Bank. All of the monies raised will help Mindy and her family. Donations can still be made at NebraskaLand National Bank.

47th Annual VFW/Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt

NebraskaLand National Bank sponsored the 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt that the VFW and the Auxiliary organizes each year. On Thursday, April 13th NebraskaLand National Bank employees and
 over 40 children met at the VFW Post. Over 10,000 eggs were dyed and decorated. This is the only Easter Egg Hunt in North Platte with that many eggs. On Saturday, April 15th NebraskaLand National Bank employees, the VFW and the Auxiliary spent over an hour laying out all 10,000 eggs. They eggs were divided into different age groups at Cody Park. There was also an area for children with disabilities.
The Easter Egg Hunt started at 2 p.m. and took close to 1 1/2 minutes for 500 children to collect all 10,000 eggs! Many one prizes such as, bikes, toys and games. The event brought many children from the North Platte and the surrounding communities.

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes

 NebraskaLand National Bank, KX104 and the Volunteer Fire Department hosted the first North Platte Walk A Mile in Her Shoes. The event was held on Friday, April 14th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Being a Men's March against sexual assault, men wore women's shoes and walked one mile downtown. Over
2 5 men participated in the walk. Everything was worn from slippers to high heeled sandals. Each participate raised at least $100. All of the monies raised went to the Rape and Domestic Abuse Program. Over $4500.00 was raised. The march began and ended at NebraskaLand National Bank downtown. It took the 25 men close to one half hour to walk the mile. When finished, the men were greeted with applause and hotdogs and hamburgers grilled out by NebraskaLand National Bank.

FRAUD ALERT

The statistics are rising and so is the awareness. Nebraska consumer complaints of fraud rose nearly 14 percent in 2005, according to figures released by the Federal Trade Commission. Complaints from victims of identity theft rose 14.2 percent over 2004 numbers.
What kind of fraud are we talking about? Credit card fraud was the most common form of reported identity theft, with 20 percent of complaints reported. Others were lotteries, sweepstakes and prizes made up 22 percent of fraud complaints in Nebraska in 2005.
“ You receive a letter saying you have won the Canadian Lottery,” said Kim Schroll, Executive Vice President of Operations at NebraskaLand National Bank. “ They send you a check, tell you to cash it and send them $2,000 as a handling fee. The check is fake and you are out $2,000.” If something, seem to good to be true, it is, Schroll said.
NebraskaLand National Bank and others are working to educate the community of ways to prevent Identity Theft. The age of most identity theft complaints is 18-29. Only 5 percent of fraud complaints come from people age 70 or older.

Community Minded Award

NebraskaLand National Bank presented Chuck Scripter with the NebraskaLand National Bank Community Minded award on Thursday, February 16th at the main bank location. The award is given in recognition of service to the community.
Chuck has done many miraculous things for not only the community of North Platte but for his family. In 2004 Chucks wife, Kay’s, health began to decline and she needed a kidney transplant. Chuck was able to be the donor. Both recovered and are living healthy lives today.
After retirement Chuck has become active in numerous organizations and traveled around the world with these organizations. He has volunteered at least 7700 hours. He is an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity local and international projects, Lincoln County Chapter of the Red Cross and Disaster Action Team and Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful’s Neighbor Helping Neighbor program. He is a Teammates mentor and also provides ministry and mentoring at the Boys and Girls Home and at the Lincoln County Jail. Chuck is an instructor for AARP Defensive Driving. He is also a committee member of the
Linc-Up, delivers meals for the Senior Center and provides guardianship for residents at the Pawnee Hotel.
As you can see there are numerous reasons why Chuck Scripter was chosen as the NebraskaLand National Bank Community Minded Award Winner. NebraskaLand National Bank has given this award to two others in the past year, Madison Middle School and Bob
Spady. NebraskaLand National Bank is known for the community support they give through the bank and the employees.” We thought that creating a Community Minded Award would help thank all the people who serve as volunteers through the many organizations in North Platte. North Platte is where it is today because of these people,” said Assistant Vice President of Marketing Dana Hurst.

NORTHWIND WISHES...MAKING A DREAM COME TRUE
Perkins Restaurant and NebraskaLand National Bank sponsored a pancake breakfast at the National Guard Armory to kick off fundraising efforts.
NebraskaLand National Bank donated $500 and Perkins provided all of the pancakes. NorthWind Wishes is an organization that provides hunting trips for the terminally ill children. The event raised close to $1500! The organization is the vision of two North Platte men whose mission is to provide outdoor adventures for terminally Ill children. Identity Theft 911

Nebraska currently ranks 39th in identity theft and 23rd in fraud complaints in 2004, according to date released by the Federal Trade Commission. This growing number has grown concern to NebraskaLand National Bank. NebraskaLand National Bank launched a new program to help customers in cases of fraud.
Customers at NebraskaLand National Bank are now being protected by Identity Theft 911, a free service for account holders. "There is very little that is protected anymore, " said Kim Schroll, executive Vice President of the bank.
"Even postal money orders, which have always been very safe are now being duplicated." For victims of identity theft, the service will provide a personal advocate who will assist the bank customers in contacting credit bureaus, credit card issuers, debt collectors, law enforcement and government agencies. Minded Award

NebraskaLand National Bank presented the first ever NebraskaLand National Bank Community Minded Award. The award was presented to students at Madison Middle School on December 8th, 2004. The school raised $1009.39. The Madison Middle School Ambassadors led the fundraiser but the entire student body donated. The Student Body raised $700 and with the extra help from surrounding businesses the total amount raised was $1009.39. One class had $56 in just PENNIES! Congratulations to Madison Middle School. If you know of someone who has excelled in giving back to our community, please take the time to nominate them for this award. Together we can make North Platte an even better place to live and work.

Governor
Johanns and Brigadier General Bailey to Attend Beef for the Troops II at
NebraskaLand National Bank

On Tuesday, August 3rd , Top Cut, Inc. and NebraskaLand
National Bank will team up once again for Beef for the
Troops II. This is the second luncheon these two
businesses have organized together to raise money to send
beef to the Nebraska soldiers serving overseas. Special
guests are Nebraska Governor Mike Johanns and Brigadier
General Bailey.
"We had such an overwhelming response from the first
fundraiser that we really wanted to keep the ball rolling.
This is just one way we can show our support for the
soldiers serving overseas," commented, Kim Schroll,
SVP of NebraskaLand National Bank.
The fundraiser will be from 11:00am- 1:00pm in the East
parking lot of NebraskaLand National Bank downtown. Top
Cut will be grilling prime rib sandwiches and proceeds
from the lunch will go to the "Beef for the
Troops" fund. The cost is $7.00 for a prime rib
sandwich, chips and a drink. The Nebraska Beef Council,
Coca-Cola, and True Value are co-sponsors of the event
along with NebraskaLan d
National Bank.
There is an account set up at NebraskaLand National Bank
called, Beef for the Troops Fund, and donations can be
made at any of the NebraskaLand National Bank locations.
On a monthly basis, money from the fund will be used to
buy and send beef to Nebraska soldiers. So far 50 lbs. of
beef jerky has been sent to Kosovo and over 160 packages
went to Iraq.

Teach Children to Save Day

Wednesday, April 21st and Thursday, April 22nd, employees
from NebraskaLand National Bank will start kids at Lincoln
Elementary School and Cody Elementary School on the path
to a positive financial future by participating in National
Teach Children to Save Day (NTCSD)! This is an annual, nationwide
event to teach kids their financial ABC's.
"While today's kids can receive e-mail through their
cell phones or use the Internet to do their homework, many
don't know the basics of saving and money management,"
said Wendy Staroska/Marketing Officer of NebraskaLand National
Bank. "Studies show that people who learn to save early
in life usually make smarter financial decisions later.
National Teach Children to save Day starts kids off on the
right path to saving for their future."
Sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education
Foundation (ABAEF), National Teach Children to Save Day
is a day in April when bankers make presentations in schools
across the country to students in kindergarten through 12th

National Bank to kick off North Platte High School artificial turf
project by donating $250,000

On Wednesday, February 3rd at 4:00pm, Mike Jacobson President and CEO of
NebraskaLand National Bank will announce at Bauer football field that
the bank will contribute $250,000 towards the artificial turf project.
This is the largest single donation that NebraskaLand National Bank has
ever contributed.
NebraskaLand National Bank donated over $41,000 in 2003 to local
organizations, non-profit agencies and community events. Over $13,000 of
which went to youth activities, teams, clubs and sporting events.
"Since we opened the bank we have always focused on supporting the
youth in our community," comments Jacobson. "With this
donation, we can help make it possible for the field to be used year
round for other extra curricular activities. This is a long term
solution for the high school." The bank continues to give to the
greater good of the community and has committed to donating to
organizations such as Rape & Domestic Abuse, Habitat for Humanity
and the Great Plains Regional Medical Center-Giving Hope Campaign.
The total cost of the artificial turf project is estimated at
approximately $750,000.00. The North Platte School Board has pledged
$250,000.00 (with a rebate of approximately $80,000.00 for a crumb
rubber grant) toward the price of the turf. The fund raising committee
has been charged with raising $400,000.00 by May 3, 2004, with
$350,000.00 of that amount in cash, and the other $50,000.00 in either
cash or pledges, in order for the project to be undertaken. The
remaining $100,000.00 is due by May 3, 2005. Any questions regarding the

Nebraska, with a Full Service Branch Coming Soon!

On Tuesday, February 24th at 11:00am, Mike Jacobson President and CEO of
NebraskaLand National Bank will announce the bank's intention to open a
full service branch in Mullen, Nebraska, upon regulatory approval. Ron
Boyer has joined the NebraskaLand National Bank team as Vice President
of the Mullen Branch.
Boyer will be operating a loan and deposit office effective immediately.
The future location of the branch will be announced at a later date.
Boyer is a native of Mullen and has 26 years of banking experience to
include operations, item processing, product development and
agricultural and consumer lending. He and his wife have two children and
reside in Mullen. "I am excited about the opportunity to join the
NebraskaLand National Bank team," comments Boyer. "Their
hometown style of banking and commitment to personalized service will be
a great fit in our community."

NebraskaLand National Bank was started from the ground up with $3
million in initial capital. Within 3 years, the Bank exceeded $50
million in total assets and reached $100 million in 5 years and 4
months. The Bank currently has 37 employees, 9 board members and over 30
local shareholders.
The Bank opened on May 14, 1998 in a small store front in downtown North
Platte. In May of 1999, the Bank opened their South Branch, south of the
interstate in the Phillips 66 Convenience Store. In May of 2000, the
Bank opened their Wal-mart Branch in the Wal-mart Supercenter. In May of
2001, the Bank moved the Main office location, but remained in Downtown
North Platte in a refurbished 2 story half block building at 121 N.
Dewey. In July of 2003, the Bank opened its fourth location, the North
Branch in the Northside Amoco Convenience Store.
NebraskaLand National Bank has built a solid foundation, with its team
of professionals, on which the bank will continue to grow and profit for
years to come.
